Colorado county halts waste shipments from N.M. laboratory

When residents of Antonito, a small town in Conejos County in southern Colorado, discovered that low-level nuclear waste from Los Alamos National Laboratory was being transferred from trucks to trains in their town just a few hundred yards away from the San Antonio River, they asked the county commission to intervene, and the commission halted future shipments until Utah-based EnergySolutions and all other parties involved in the shipments comply with the county's permit process.
