A National Park Service report criticizing the Mormon Church's management of a Wyoming ranch it bought next to historic Martin's Cove, a 1,640-acre piece of public land the church is now trying to buy.
This week on our Perspective page, columnist Tim Davis argues that smart growth is an essential ingredient to Montana's economic development.

Sprawl raises taxes and increases the costs of services, while smart growth draws businesses and companies looking for quality of life.

The governor should push the Legislature to promote growth where it's most appropriate, Davis says, help communities pay for planning, and protect open space and farmland.
