Colorado's federal lawmakers need to turn up the heat on mercury storage
After Department of Energy officials said that a 1996 agreement with Colorado's Mesa County to store low-level radioactive waste at a federal facility near Whitewater cleared the way for the DOE to store mercury there, it's evident that Colorado's congressional delegation needs to increase their efforts to keep Whitewater from becoming the repository for the nation's elemental mercury.
